Uplifting Hispanic Voices and Inspiring the Next Generation
Hispanic Heritage Month begins on September 15 and ends October 15. This 30-day celebration aims to honor the contributions and influence of Hispanic Americans on U.S. history, culture, and achievements.
This Hispanic Heritage Month, ASME has renewed our commitment to uplifting Hispanic voices, both inside ASME as an organization and in the engineering field. Below are three Voices of ASME videos that showcase the experiences of ASME’s Hispanic employees:

In addition, I encourage you to listen to the below interview with my Unconventional Engineering podcast co-host Jay Flores, in which he discusses his passion for STEM education and his background as a leading Hispanic voice in engineering.
Jay has been nominated as the recipient of the ASME Foundation's Next Gen award for all that he has done to inspire tomorrow's future leaders in STEM. It will be presented to him at the Foundation's annual gala which will be held in New York City the evening of Thursday, May 1, 2025.
I would also like to highlight the work of the Hispanic Organization for Leadership and Achievement (HOLA), an employee resource group where peers can connect and collaborate to foster professional growth and ensure that ASME is welcoming to all.
HOLA recently hosted a backpack drive to help students get the supplies they need for a successful school year. The HOLA Volunteers assembled 110 backpacks to be distributed to grades K-5 and 6-12 in the Bronx, Brooklyn and upper Manhattan. I am incredibly proud of the work HOLA has done.
ASME’s Hispanic employees and members are having an invaluable positive effect on the next generation of engineers. They share their stories, inspire a passion for STEM, and help provide students with the supplies they need to learn. I look forward to seeing what they do next.
