Want to have a more adaptive process that allows you to pivot and change direction when needed? ASME’s Agile Project Management course familiarizes engineering and technical professionals with Agile concepts as an emerging strategy in many companies and industries. Where traditional project management plans every detail, Agile focuses on hitting results in minimum time and the “fail fast” mantra. Companies today value the agile methodology because it is effective in situations where outcomes are uncertain and methods untested.

Using this methodology allows engineers and technical professionals to become more effective project contributors and prepares participants to manage their projects in their everyday work environment. This professional development course introduces learners to Agile Project Management using the latest PMBOK (Project Management Body of Knowledge)/ Agile guidelines from PMI® (Project Management Institute) taking advantage of practical real-world relevant examples.

The course will combine lecture, small group activities, and discussions to help students understand Agile and its place relative to traditional project management practices. As this is a highly interactive course, students are asked to participate activity in team-based projects and will manage a project of their choice, from its inception to completion in a matter of a few hours. This course is 100% compliant with PMI’s® current PMBOK and Agile materials.

By participating in this course, you will learn how to successfully:

  • Employ the proper use of Agile in situations that are uncertain compared to clearly definable work.
  • Analyze lean, Kanban and risk to determine what life cycles may be required.
  • Evaluate project life cycles and its relevance to various projects including Predictive; Iterative; Incremental, and Agile.
  • Apply various Agile tools together by exploring identification, qualification, and selection steps.
  • Create all components of a specific project and eliminate unnecessary steps.
  • Evaluate specific project factors for future decisions.
  • Implement Agile through team preparation and composition.
  • Explain the process of monitoring, troubleshooting and measurements in Agile.
  • Employ Agile terminology throughout the course.
